This month, SIMA is pleased to spotlight Steve Brewer, CSP, Division Manager at Wright Landscape Services Inc. in Bloomindale, ON.  Steve brings decades of industry experience, a passion for operations, and a deep appreciation for the unique challenges that come with professional snow and ice management.

Steve joined SIMA with a simple but powerful goal: to learn from peers and share knowledge with others. That spirit of collaboration reflects how Steve approaches both leadership and continuous improvement. Since joining SIMA, he has found tremendous value in the Certified Snow Professional (CSP) Certification Program, which has helped reinforce best practices and elevate professionalism across operations.

When asked what he loves most about working in the snow and ice industry, Steve describes it as a love–hate relationship. While public expectations can be challenging, the operational side of snow management is where his passion truly shines. There’s something special, Steve says, about plowing an empty parking lot at 2:00 a.m., fresh snow falling, and knowing you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. It’s a feeling only those with a true passion for the work can fully understand.

Family plays a central role in Steve’s life and career. He has been married to his wife, Colleen, for 26 years. Together, they have three children—Colton, Savannah, and Reegan. Colleen works as a Group Fitness Manager at Movati Fitness in Waterloo. Their son, Colton (24), started his own landscape business in 2020 and is experiencing firsthand the challenges and rewards of small business ownership. Their oldest daughter, Savannah, is enrolled in a Law Program at the University of Waterloo, pursuing her goal of becoming a lawyer, while their youngest daughter, Reegan, is currently attending Conestoga College in the Early Childhood Education Program. Outside of work, the family spends summers at their cottage on Lake Huron near Goderich, Ontario, along with their two dogs, Bentey and Eli. Most weekends you will find Steve attending local car shows and cruise nights with either his 2019 Challenger R/T or his 1973 Nova.

One of Steve’s most memorable snow experiences dates to February 2025, when their region received close to 4 feet of snow in a 48-hour period, shutting down the city.

When it comes to equipment, Steve loves when he can get some seat time in one of the company's 6 series John Deere tractors .
