This month, SIMA is pleased to spotlight Kyle Gravel, CSP, co-owner of Evergreen Yard Care Inc. With 13 years in the snow and ice management industry, Kyle brings firsthand experience, resilience, and a passion for professional snow removal that continues to shape both his business and his approach to the industry.

Kyle works alongside his father, Rocky, co-owning Evergreen Yard Care in a true family partnership. The company operates out of two Maine locations—Winslow and South Portland, with South Portland serving as the larger location. Kyle credits his mom, Lisa, as the company’s biggest supporter. Outside of work, Kyle lives in Gray, Maine with his girlfriend, Camden, and their two cats. Family support has been a constant throughout the long hours and demanding winters that come with snow operations in Maine.

Kyle joined SIMA with a clear goal: to network and gain more knowledge about professional snow removal. Since becoming a member, he has found significant value in SIMA’s quick guides, training materials, and the Snow Business, which help reinforce best practices and support continuous improvement in day-to-day operations. Most recently, Kyle earned his Certified Snow Professional (CSP) designation, further demonstrating his commitment to professionalism and ongoing education within the industry.

One of the most defining moments in Kyle’s career came during the historic 2014–2015 winter in Maine. At the time, he was working for a small operation managing large commercial properties under zero-tolerance expectations with limited equipment. A relentless series of storms—including a 22-hour nor’easter that delivered over a foot of snow, followed by additional systems—pushed both equipment and endurance to the limit. Working more than 56 hours, much of it without sleep, Kyle experienced firsthand how unforgiving winter operations can be. That season, while demoralizing at the time, ultimately fueled what he describes as an obsession with “fighting Mother Nature” and laid the groundwork for building a stronger, more adaptable operation today.

When it comes to equipment, Kyle emphasizes the importance of skid loaders for their compact footprint, making cleanup and snow removal far more efficient in the confined spaces around Portland. For sidewalks, however, Snowrators remain an essential tool that the operation can’t live without.

Outside of snow and ice management, Kyle stays busy touring with his band, Moments Of, indulging his love of Star Wars, gaming, and spending time with family.

SIMA is proud to spotlight Kyle Gravel, CSP, for his dedication, grit, and commitment to continuous learning—qualities that exemplify professionalism in the snow and ice management industry.
